David Myer’s selection for chef de cuisine at his new Hinoki & The Bird is young star Kuniko Yagi, a self-taught culinarian. Earning her mentor’s confidence, Yagi worked her way up to chef de cuisine at Sona, then assisted in the launch of Myers’ Comme Ça in Las Vegas, as well as David Myers Café and SOLA in Tokyo. After serving as executive chef at Comme Ça in West Hollywood, Yagi was a contestant on Bravo TV’s Top Chef with fellow Hollywood Bowl Chefs Picnic Club participant Brooke Williamson.
