Ricardo Zarate
Peruvian chef Ricardo Zarate, whose experience in London and L.A. includes prominent Japanese restaurants (Sai Sai at the Biltmore), is almost single-handedly responsible for introducing Angelenos to the exciting brand of contemporary Peruvian cuisine that has made Lima a hot culinary destination. His Mo-Chica, now in a new downtown location, was a cult favorite from the start, while his Westside restaurant, Picca, has drawn rave reviews. This year, Zarate expands to Marina del Rey with Paiche, a Peruvian-style izakaya.
